For some reason now unclear to me, I became project manager three months ago of a 1910 home renovation in Portland.Yes, I'm a designer. Yes, I love taking on art projects that use beach glass and discarded windows. I love to design projects that bring a fresh glow to a wooden chair or a sad room.
The fact that this is my fiance's home that he and his kids had lived in for 30 years just made it wayyy more fun. Because that means, pretty soon it will be lovely, and we'll get to live in the new space.
This is not a Before picture. It's a vision of what I wanted the living/dining areas with 30 years of accumulated piles of dusty stuff, peeling plaster and dark trim to become: a contemplative space. An interior place to come home to, a tabernacle in the wilderness.
If not that, then (as the Irish say) something very like it.
